Rochester NH, April 5, 2013 — Since the beginning, Phase 2 Medical device manufacturer (http://www.phase2medical.com) has aggressively pushed, culture, innovation and customer service as the driving forces behind their leadership in manufacturing medical devices.

“As a small medical device manufacturer in the mid 90s it was almost natural that every single person in the company knew our goals, communication was clear and innovation and efficiency drove our culture,” said Adam Prime, President of Phase 2.

When Prime came on board as president in 1997, Phase 2 was very small medical device manufacturer, there was a group of five core people and all of them knew everything about every aspect of the company. “We were lean back then because we had to be,” said Prime. “We stay lean today because it is a competitive necessity and a significant business advantage.”

As Phase 2 grew, Prime was intent on keeping the company responsive, innovative and communicative. He has always wanted everyone to have a very clear picture of Phase 2’s roll in manufacturing medical devices. To do this, Phase 2 formalized processes to keep the channels of communication open. They also established five key success metrics—revenue, on-time delivery, customer complaints, CMPR and productivity--by which promotions would be made and quarterly bonuses issued.

To make sure everyone understands the metrics, they have a company wide meeting every week where the metrics are discussed, issues are resolved and goals are set.

“People need to be motivated and it’s not something you can hope just happens, Prime said. At Phase 2, motivation is a process that we drive in our company at every level. This is extremely important to our customers and to manufacturing medical devices which are critical to saving lives.”
