The device has crystal-finished glass panels covering the front and back. The gleaming effects makes R1 look different at the first glimpse from other devices. The 142.7 x 70.4 x 7.1 mm exterior, houses its 5-inch 720p display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Weighing at 141 grams the R1 sports a quad-core processor clocks in at 1.3GHz, and it is accompanied by a 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, with dual micro-SIM cards.

R1 runs on OPPO's ColorOS 1.0which is a customized ROM based on Android 4.2: Jelly Bean. Besides its ameliorated UI, the ColorOS also has a quick reach system, which adds convenience by various gesture controls,e.g. easily waking up the device by double tapping the screen, sliding up/down with two fingers to play or pause your music, and drawing a “Circle” to open the camera while the screen is off, just to name a few.

Since OPPO’s entrance into the mobile phone marketplace in 2008 in China, the company has sought to develop a strong following of its users. As it continues to expand into new markets, the company constantly strives to make its products more accessible to its customers without compromising on quality.
