Onset of Upcoming Election Meet MP Raju Shetti Only On IBN-Lokmat

Mr. Raju Shetti is a popular Politician and member of the parliament representing the Hatkanangle constituency in Maharashtra.   Born in 1967 in Kolhapur, Mr. Raju Shetti has been actively involved in various political affairs. He is the president of Swabhimani Paksha, the political party which he has founded in 2004. He was elected to the 15^th Loksabha in 2009. Mr. Shetti has taken efforts to bring about many changes in his constituency and has also been awarded the Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year Award in 2011 by the then President Smt. Pratibha Patil. Mr. Shetti Was first elected as Zilla Parishad member from the Udgaon Constituency of Kolhapur Zilla Parishd in 2002. He is the founder of The Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana through which he fought for the welfare of farmers and farming. Prior to being elected as an MP he was MLA of the Maharashtra legislative Assembly from 2004 till 2009. He also initiated a voluntary rescue operation with the help of local donors and activists for the people of Bastwad village in Shirol Taluka affected by floods. Mr. Shetti also successfully managed to get compensation for the losses caused by the floods and received government aid of about Rs. 53 crores for these affected regions.

The general election of India are scheduled to begin in April and will be the longest election in the country’s history spanning across 9 phases that begin from the 7^th of April and continue till the 12^th of May 2014.
