Eugene, OR - SDR or Software Development Resource, moves the notch further by releasing another addition to their free software resource library called TIFF viewer . It can freely open a file rarely encountered so not every user has access to it while offering a host of other functions to increase user satisfaction.

What are TIFF Files?

TIFF files stands for Tagged Image File Format is a specialized file format mostly used by graphics designers and artists thus the mostly used for storing raster graphics images.

It is also commonly used by graphics team in the publishing industry which means both the amateur and professionals love playing with it. It was a rather old file extension format being released in the late 80s by a now defunct small company called Aldus.

It predated most other graphic design software regulars that are used today, particularly Adobe's Photoshop and Illustrator systems and ironically, Adobe has merged them in 1994.

TIFF, as often used in desktop publishing is preferred over JPEG files due to its crispness and file size retention that's needed for digital photo printing, which makes it preference for archiving. It can be opened with Adobe's Photoshop program but since not everybody can afford to own these rather costly graphics suites, one must find an alternative in order to open the elusive .tiff files.

Luckily, SDR sneaked into the scene by promising a change in the landscape through their own TIFF viewer.

TIFF files offer more advantages that contributed to its widespread use in the desktop publishing industry. For one, it can handle data and image content in one file while holding and storing compressed images in lossless format.

Added functionality includes: rotation capability, easy navigation from one file to another and zooming options. The best option so far, unlike Adobe, SDR's program is free.
