Orlando, FL — April 12, 2016 - In the United States, osteoarthritis is the most common arthritic condition that affects millions of people.  Pain is one of the most undesirable consequences of having the condition, and this has led many scientists to find the ultimate solution for sufferers.

New research reveals some progress in fighting debilitating pain caused by osteoarthritis. This condition doesn’t just cause pain but also physical limitations. There are sufferers who do not just live a sedentary lifestyle but also a reduced quality of life.

The researchers from the Arthritis Research UK Pain Centre at the University of Nottingham reveal that there is a new way to block the debilitating and chronic pain that is making the lives of osteoarthritis sufferers difficult.

There are pain relieving drugs such as steroidal injections and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. These medications are used by many individuals who suffer from severe pain due to osteoarthritis. These pharmaceutical drugs are believed to help fight inflammation.

Unfortunately, their use has also been associated with side effects including the severe ones that could potentially jeopardize the health of sufferers.

In a new study featured by the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases journal, the scientists from Nature Reviews Rheumatology studied the TRPV1, which is a protein receptor. It is produced by the nerve cells that respond to pain. This includes pain that responds to stimulation of the joints.

According to Dr. Sara Kelly, a lecturer in neuroscience at the University, the previous research suggested that TRPV1 could be one of the most important contributory factors of osteoarthritis pain. She added that pharmaceutical drugs that are formulated to block TRPV1 could potentially reduce it.

Osteoarthritis is a very common medical condition and there has not been any cure discovered for it. It can cause severe pain that may or may not last a life time. There are many individuals who suffer from osteoarthritis who resort to pharmaceutical drugs or even a major surgical procedure, such as joint replacement.

In the United Kingdom, there are more than eight million people who suffer from osteoarthritis. This number is expected to rise due to the growing obesity epidemic and aging population.

More and more people are terrified of the side effects associated with the use of pain medications. This is why they resort to the use of natural alternatives such as turmeric, which is safer than the pharmaceutical drugs.

Turmeric has curcumin, which is a phytochemical that contains antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Supplement-BioPerine-Capsule/dp/B0166KAW8M).
