Fictional character Capable Chris offers fresh perspective on some of life’s biggest lessons for kids growing up in the information age

Kids today are being raised in a world of constant pressure from a variety of sources that no one could have imagined even a decade ago. Inner city youth are especially susceptible to new societal burdens, and many studies show parents are often at a loss as to how to guide their children through challenges they never faced growing up.

This was one of the inspirations for L.M. Bedell’s new book, Capable Chris, available now in paperback from Amazon.com(https://www.amazon.com/CAPABLE-CHRIS-SEE-HEAR-BELIEVE/dp/0989667227?ie=UTF8&keywords=Capable%20Chris&qid=1457061580&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1). The story centers on an inner city youth named Chris who must navigate the new pitfalls of growing up in the 21st century, while at the same time learning lessons on building confidence, courage, and determination. Chris also develops strengths in other areas such as college preparation, money management, and entrepreneurship.

“As someone who is very involved with local youth organizations in my community, I so often see the struggles children face today, and frankly it seems so unfair,” Capable Chris author L.M. Bedell says, “it’s heartbreaking to see a child today grow up with limited character development opportunities, and I think that this book is a great introduction to inspire kids to get even more involved in their community.”
