National School Counseling Week

School counselors can be a powerful conduit for students seeking to meet graduation goals or plan a career track. It's not enough for students to try and figure out pathways on their own. They often need some guidance in order to nudge them in the proper direction for a better future. That is why National School Counseling week matters. It provides a brief period of time to recognize and praise the efforts that school counselors put forward on a day to day basis.

Numerous schools across the nation are participating. One such school is Bellus Academy, one of the top cosmetology schools in the United States. Bellus Academy is offering school counselors some well-earned stress relief during National School Counseling Week, from February 2 to 4. Recognized as the most awarded beauty academy in North America, Bellus Academy is providing school counselors a complimentary salon service at one of their many school salon and spa locations, free product samples, and much more.

The American School Counselors Association is sponsoring National School Counseling Week. The purpose of the appreciation is to emphasize the invaluable role that school counselors perform in assisting students to develop a career plan and eventually achieve success.

Lynelle Lynch is the President and Owner of Bellus Academy. Her school works closely with school counselors to make sure that students are made aware of available career opportunities in the beauty and wellness industry. "New product technologies, non-invasive procedures and a blurring of the lines between beauty and wellness are creating new career paths and school counselors play an important role in educating students about opportunities in the beauty and wellness sector," Lynch said.

Rewarding counselors by providing them with some special pampering is just one way that the school and its students contribute to the community around them.

"A counselor's day is rarely relaxing and certainly not glamorous, but we're hoping to change that for a few hours," said Lynelle Lynch. Since a counselor's day is normally occupied with preparing students for career opportunities after high school, the samples of products and complimentary services provide counselors with recognition that is well-deserved.

Guidance counseling can be a challenging endeavor at times. Many counselors help students throughout their education whether this be in a vocational school, college or other campus of learning. Career opportunities, choices in academics, as well as advice for broader social and personal development are often provided.

However, students are not always receptive and don't always take all of the assistance they receive from a counselor to heart. So it is a fantastic achievement for school counselors when a student does accept and appreciate their help.

According to the American School Counselor Association, National School Counseling Week festivities will involve the participation of more than 30,000 school counselors nationwide.
