Dover NH, October 26, 2012 - Gynecology and Infertility Associates is proud to offer Robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy to women with large fibroids or other complex pathology that traditionally has required a large incision. Dr. Anne Kalter recently removed a uterus that was the size of a honeydew melon (15 times normal size) using only keyhole size incisions. The patient returned home the following day.  Better outcomes are found to be directly related to surgical experience. Dr. Kalter has performed over 50 Robotic hysterectomies so far this year, and has more experience with the procedure than any other physician in the Southeast New Hampshire. Dr. Kalter states, “The use of robotic assistance in laparoscopy overcomes the disadvantages of traditional laparoscopy.  Using high-resolution 3D video with fully articulating instruments, the robot virtually extends the surgeon’s eyes and hands into the surgical site. For patients, this translates into less post-operative pain, shorter length of hospital stay, and faster return to normal activities.”

Dr Kalter also uses Robotic technology to treat other gynecologic conditions including endometriosis and pelvic prolapse. She also performs myomectomies on patients with symptomatic fibroids who wish to retain fertility. She has been a proctor for Intuitive Surgical and has taught Robotic surgery to other surgeons.
