(Free Press Release) Chicago Resident To Receive Career Training to Utilize Bilingual Capabilities
Chicago, IL September 16, 2011 -- Metaphrasis Language and Cultural Solutions (Metaphrasis), a leading Chicago-based language services company today announced the first recipient of its medical interpreting scholarship program.
Awarded to Chicago resident, Adriana Romano-Pompei, Metaphrasis will provide full paid tuition to the Medical Interpreter Training program, books and materials, as well as a 40-hour professional internship.
With an established background in teaching, Romano-Pompei was selected because of her aptitude and desire to expand her existing language skills. Elizabeth Colón, CEO of Metaphrasis commented, "There is a huge demand for qualified medical interpreters. For a bilingual person, the skill set is already present, there simply needs to be specialized training. Awarding this first scholarship is extremely exciting for us."
Scholarship recipient Adriana Romano-Pompei comments, "I think that everybody has a passion, and mine has always been to be able to speak foreign languages and to work using them. Interpreting not only requires you to actually know the language, but also to work as a professional who is aware that his/her role on the job is to guarantee the best communication between members of completely different cultures. I applied for the Metaphrasis scholarship eager to improve my medical interpreting skills and to reinforce my expertise in this challenging field. I was very excited to be selected by Metaphrasis as the first scholarship recipient."

The medical interpreting field is one of the few experiencing growth and increased demand for new interpreters. Metaphrasis has chosen to provide this scholarship to individuals who may be experiencing financial hardship. The medical interpreter scholarship promotes and advances the field of medical interpreting in the Chicago land area. One individual will be awarded a full scholarship to attend the 48-hour medical interpreter course each time training is offered.
