Priya, representing the Indian National Congress partywas first time elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Mumbai North West constituency in Maharashtra in 2005 and was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 from the Mumbai - North Central Constituency. Priya has been associated with many social causes and reforms in her constituency. Priya Dutt holds a Post Graduate Degree in TV production from the Centre for Media Arts, New York and has done her B.A. (Sociology) from Sophia College, Mumbai. She has been involved with the many social causes like training underprivileged women and children under the Rajiv Gandhi Computer        Education Program and responsibly running the Nargis Dutt Cancer Foundation. Her constituency of Mumbai central comprises of areas like Bandra (W), Bandra (E), Chandivali, Kurla, Vile Parle and Kalina.  Recently, in June 2013 she has also been appointed as the secretary of the All-India Congress Committee.

Priya’s greatest influence in life has been her father Mr. Sunil Dutt.As a Politician, her key concerns arein the field of Education, Health, Women Empowerment, Youth affairs, Infrastructural Development and Communal Harmony. Priya has been honoured with many awards in her young life span. Some of the key awards she achieved are ‘Maitreyi Puraskar’ for her contribution towards Woman Empowerment, Young Political Achiever award in 2010 and the prestigiousFICCI Women Achiever Award in 2013.
