IOWA CITY, IA, NOV. 23, 2015 — Iowa based software firm, Mazira LLC, has been developing a software-as-a-service for the past 12 months. The product, GoldFynch, launches at the end of this month and has already signed on its  customer, a litigator at a Cedar Rapids firm. GoldFynch bills itself as a document review platform for all firms, great and small. Its features include a drag and drop file up-load, automatic OCR (optical character recognition) with keyword searching, tagging and timeline view. Other unique selling points include the elimination of load files, a notoriously difficult to manage relic from the days of legacy software that may be outdated, but still heavily in use in the absence of a replacement, automatic bates stamping, and mixed native and PDF production sets.

The launch of GoldFynch coincides nicely with the beginning of a shift to digital filing requirements that will begin to take place in 2016 through US Federal Courts, including the US Supreme Court. The use of digital filing or e-filing is a significant one, symbolizing the acceptance of cloud technology as something that will change the field for the better.

On the news of their first paying customer, co-founder Anith Mathai states, “That first customer is a huge step; it’s something that makes you feel validated. We knew when we were building this that we were on to something. We did our homework and spoke to a lot of our potential users throughout the development process to be sure we were building something that would bring value to litigators. This is just one of the many pieces of the puzzle coming into place. Now we focus on making that customer extremely satisfied to the point that he could sell GoldFynch for us.”

And that is exactly what sets GoldFynch apart from their competitors. Mathai explained, “the reason so many of our competitors are prohibitively expensive for smaller firms, is because their sales relies on one-to-one meetings and a concierge type experience. They have to do it that way because their products are difficult to use, so they spend several hours of pre-sales time talking up the product and training people to use it. With GoldFynch, the value is that you can sign up to use it immediately with 0 learning curve. No need to make it difficult to use or sign up or see the pricing — we make it all very transparent. The users who have beta tested GoldFynch felt comfortable using it in their day-to-day practice within 10 minutes of walking through a guided demonstration, so I think that’s proof already that our product is very different from what’s out there already.”

Plans for GoldFynch’s growth include partnering with local state bar associations and creating an online reference guide for litigators who may be blindsided by the technical jargon required to manage large enterprise competitors. Ross Johnson, a Mazira co-founder summed up their value proposition succinctly: “The goal is really to teach people why their existing products are so complicated, to show them that it doesn’t have to be that way, and to help them transition to something that will save their clients time and money.”
