Eugene, OR - SDR [Software Development Resource] releases new converter software with their free WMA to MP3 converter. The company is set to release more free converters in the future which are already in the works as of this writing.

Delving into WMA

WMA is an audio file type developed by Microsoft to complement its media player files. On the other hand, MP3 is the current de facto standard in most audio digital playback players for either online or online platforms.

WMA can also refer to the codecs, aside from the common audio file format it is associated with. Ever since it was developed, it has always been seen as a competitor to the MP3 format.

MP3 is more popular though given its universality and easy file opening capability across platforms. Most MP3 players don't have the capability to play WMA files except if otherwise it's the native Windows Media Player that's in use. WMA is mostly just compatible in the Windows environment so it's not widely supported outside that zone.

MP3 being de facto standard has more support despite all Microsoft's attempt to discredit the apparent inferior sound quality of MP3 files as compared to their own WMA at the same bit rates.

To conquer this problem, SDR came with a solution to reconcile the difference by providing a free WMA to MP3 converter. It has drag and drop features with one click convert button for instant transactions [conversion time depends on quantity and file size].
