Judges Jaaved jafferi talks about his show Boogie Woogie on Sony Entertainment Television:

1.       Now a days, lot of dancing reality shows are coming. How do you differentiate Boogie Woogie from others?

Jaaved Jaaferi- Currently, All dance reality shows are celebrity oriented and they either focus on television stars or on choreographers but Boogie Woogie is a common man’s show that provides a platform to people who are not known faces and want to nurture their talent in a big way. Though there might be shows that give opportunity to the common man to be in the limelight.  However, Boogie Woogie is the first such show to recognize talent across the length and breadth of the country and introduce then to stardom. Not to forget that we are the oldest player, we are 17 years old.

2.       Are such shows your competition or not?

Jaaved Jaaferi- We do not look at it in this way. It is always great to recognize talent and help them nurture it in a country like ours which has 1.2 million people. Where do you expect them to go? The more the merrier. Let us take the example of veteran actor Dilip Kumar. Lot of people has copied his style but original remains original.

3.       Why there was a break of three years in between?

Jaaved- We always wanted to slot Boogie Woogie in Prime time and yes it did take us so long to fit it in. In a way it works well because we have come back with both freshness and fresh talent.

4.       So what is so unique with this comeback?

Jaaved- This season is unique because we are purely focussing on dance. In any case, what do you expect from a dance reality show other than dance? How in Olympics athletes are running from 60 years? What else you can show in it. Similarly in Boogie Woogie the only change is talent rest everything remains same.

5.        Have you planned to do something different than others?

Jaaved-   As I mentioned, we are only focusing on dance without including drama. As you must have seen that we have never appreciated vulgarity on the show mainly because it is kids centric reality show. We have never given them indecent or vulgar dresses and if they wish to do some steps like that than we go and explain them.

6.       Is there anything missing in the show?

Jaaved- There isn’t anything missing, but we hope to witness some some Indian dance genre but it didn’t turn out to be like that. I think western style is in trend. Where ever we have gone, 70% of the kids were performing western and rest of 25-30% presented Indian classical dance. I can say that it is because of Internet, kids wants to learn only which is popular in west region.
