22 July, 2014: The Hallmark Salon 2014 exhibition has once again proven the show’s independent director, Paul Dyson’s talent at pulling together singularly unique and fantastic design exhibitions. This year the Hallmark Salon saw 86 hand-selected exhibitors displaying their wares to collectors, buyers and patrons from all over the world. Designers, such as Jon Dibben, were chosen to participate in the show for their talented craftsmanship, innovative ideas and unique designs, with each completely original and individual piece proudly bearing the UK hallmark.

The exhibition, which was held in the stately surroundings of Somerset House, proved to be a very successful buying event for consumers. Shoppers had the pleasure of perusing original works of jewellery of varying size ranging from £80 to £18,000 and up. The unique nature of the Hallmark Salon exhibition also allowed consumers to meet, interact, and buy directly from designers, such as Jon Dibben, who were present at the display.

The Hallmark Salon’s primary mission was said to be, “Responding to strong consumer demand for individually designed bespoke pieces that are not mass-produced; this unique event will promote superlative British design and craftsmanship to an international audience.”

Paul Dyson, the director of the event, said, “I am more than delighted to announce that we have launched this event in support of the jewellery and silversmithing industry. The nurturing and promotion of talented craftspeople is of the utmost importance in today’s global climate. With London still firmly the focus of the world in terms of creativity and innovation, I am proud to showcase in this way the unrivalled craftsmanship of the jewellers and silversmiths working in the United Kingdom.”

Designers such as Jon Dibben seemed particularly well suited to the Hallmark Salon environment. The designer, who was one of the first 20 designers licensed to create jewellery from Fairtrade and Fairmined gold and platinum, continued to ‘wow’ the crowds with his striking one-off pieces that focus on unusual cuts and colours while embracing organic and natural shapes.

With the success of the Hallmark Salon 2014 exhibition it is likely that this event celebrating the best UK jewellery design and silversmithing talent will become a permanent fixture on the industry’s yearly events calendar.
