Sony Entertainment Television brings Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa with new celebrities and well-known faces to perform with professional dance partners on a highly competitive stage. The show is produced by BBC Worldwide Productions in India. Tania Bath is the Creative Director of the Indian series.

The show's format is taken from the Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC One in UK, which has been a huge success in over 30 countries like America, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy, where it is known as Dancing with the Stars.

Owing to India's unique Bollywood traditions, the dances are typically more exuberant than on its sister programmes around the world. Also because of the strong Bollywood approach, India is the only country to not have live music with an in-house band. Unlike the UK's Strictly Come Dancing and other spin-offs, the show is also pre-recorded.[1]The ballroom and Latin dances are all performed as Bollywood-themed showdances(US: freestyles) rather than ballrrom or Latin Techniques with strict 'syllabus'.

The public voting for the Semi-finals had resulted in duo Karan Singh Grover and Nicole Alvares, Gauhar Khan and Hard Kaur, the lowest scorer of the round, being sent into the Finale for the face off. Hard Kaur was set to leave the show after her performance, prepared for the finale after an unanimous decision in favour of Gauhar Khan. Her performance made the judges display their resentment over the biased voting of the public in the form of a 'strike' till Hard Kaur is brought back. The judges returned the very next episode with Hard Kaur's elimination being inevitable.

Actress Madhuri Dixit is now all set to make her comeback to small screen. The Bollywood star can now be seen as a judge on the fifth season of Jhalak Dikhla Ja. According to reports, the dancing diva has signed up for the second time with the television dance reality show following her successful stint as a judge in the season 4.

Madhuri Dixit had co-judged the last season with Remo D'Souza and Malaika Arora Khan. Right after the grand finale, the actress was approach for the following season. Madhuri, who had been busy travelling between India and US right now,had also expressed her interest to comeback on the show.

As she is passionate about dance Madhuri Dixit said that she would love to judge the show. She'd even confirmed that they was at talks with show bosses, but nothing was locked. Since she has moved to India in October 2011, things seem to be moving fast.

However, the co-judges of Madhuri Dixit for the fifth season are yet to be finalised. The show, which was previously aired on Sony TV since 2006, will now be broadcast on Colors.
