This caused widespread destruction to numerous farmers and their agricultural lands as tons of crops were destroyed. For a farmer his crops, his land is his bread and butter. When heavy downpours of rain and hailstorms visit the state these crops are completely destroyed,which in one moment takes away the livelihood of the farmer leading them to take extreme actions like committing suicide. Just recently heavy rain accompanied with hailstorms affected 28 districts of Maharashtra and claimed the lives of many farmers due to the widespread damage caused to the crops.

As the General Elections of India is approaching, the state government will have to act swiftly and provide some relief for these affected farmers to put an end to farmer suicides. The government cannot ignore the destruction caused as this can be a major issue for voters during voting. Keeping this in mind the Maharashtra state government has finalised a relief of Rs 4,000 crore for the farmers and people affected in 28 districts by rain and hailstorm.
