9th April 2010: Cricket as we all know is a religion in India and has a huge passionate fan following. Born on 1st April 1941, in Mumbai, this cricket persona made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 1958-59. The former India captain through his brilliant sporting spirit has inspired many of the current players in the Indian team. He is considered one of best tactical captains India ever had.

As a captain, he always played with a cool mind and likewise encouraged his team mates to win. The series wins over West Indies and England from 1971-73 are considered to be some of the best victories India has produced. And now, Ajit Wadekar will be conferred with the Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award for the year 2010.

He also wrote a book on his career “MY CRICKETING YEARS” where he shared thoughts on his career path, struggle and his success stories.
