(Free Press Release) A passionate old gentleman with a heart of gold, he seems to touch the life of whomever he meets and is known to be a man of mettle. His loved ones describe him as a man abounding with energy, relentlessly fixed on making the world a better place. The dynamic personality, Dr Jagannath Wani bears his heart this week in an exclusive episode on IBN Lokmat‘s Great Bhet on Saturday, 25th February 2012 at 9:30 pm.
Back in 1984, a group of Indo-Canadians felt the need to repay India for its contribution to their lives. At the forefront of this was Dr. Jagannath Wani, Professor of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Calgary. He felt a sense of gratitude towards the tutoring he received in India which served as a major stepping stone to the comfortable lifestyle in Canada that he and many like himself enjoyed. That is how he formed the ´Maharashtra Seva Samiti Organization‘ (MSSO).
Dr. Wani worked tirelessly, coordinating Canadian donations with provincial and federal funding sources. This was met with the monumental task of effectively getting the money to India given the high need to screen for reliable Indian partners with proven track records. This organization contributed more than four million dollars to projects in India through matching funds from both the federal and provincial governments of Canada. Drawing from personal experience, he worked with schizophrenic patients, destitute women, tribal people, people afflicted with leprosy, slum dwellers, nomadic communities, innocent prison inmates, oppressed farmers, earthquake victims and many others.
The relentless man has won much recognition and many awards in India for this work, both for its effectiveness and its development modeling. Watch this special episode with Dr. Jagannath Wani only on IBN-Lokmat in Great Bhet on Saturday, 25th February 2012 at 9:30 pm.
