Celebrating the occasion of International Women’s Day, IBN-Lokmat presented the second edition of Mukta Sanman Awards 2014 that recognized and felicitated commendable women from all walks of life. This awards ceremony took place with splendour and magnificence. Eminent IPS officer and a role model to millions of women, Kiran Bedi and famous actor Atul Kulkarni were chief guests for the occasion. Amongst other dignitaries present were Dr. Bhalchandra Munagekar, Husen Dalwai, Bhai Jagtap and many personalities from the Entertainment Industry like Rohini Hattangadi, Usha Nadkarni, Swati Chitnis, Suhita Thatte, Sonali Kulkarni, Pradeep Velankar Tejashree Pradhan, Spruha Joshi and Bharat Dhabholkar.  Experience this splendid star studded award ceremony this Saturday, 8th March at 8.00 pm and Sunday, 9th March at 11.00 am, 4.00 pm & 9.30 pm.

The awards comprised of many categories: Government officials, Social & Education Initiative, Entrepreneurs, Sports and Adventure, Art & theatre, off bit courage, Sasu-Sun Sanman, Gender Sensitive Man, Organization & Mukta Sanman Jeevan gaurav.

The winners of these awards according to different categories were, Government officials: Rajlakshmi Shivankar, DYSP, Police officer. She made the desi liquor shops to shut in the Gondivale area of Satara. Social Initiative: Irfana Muzavar (School for children), Mumbai. Founder of Young India school for secular education in Mumbai. Entrepreneurs- Business: Rujuta Divekar, Nutrition and fitness world. She broke the myth of Zero figure and its health implications, and gave a very new perspective to look at weight loss.  Sports and Adventure: Punam Raut, an opening batswoman Indian women Cricket team. Creative: Irawati Karnik, writer and Theatre artist. She has worked as an actor, has directed plays in Marathi, Hindi and English. Off bit courage:Panchsheel Mahila Bachatgat, Aurangabad. They perform last rights and crematory services for the neglected dead. Sasu-Sun Sanman: Bhavna Vispute- Vimal Vispute.Vimal has taken care of her daughter in law Bhavna post her deadly accident with as much love and care, as she would do it for her own daughter. Gender Sensitive Man: Harish Sadani, Men Against Violence and Abuse (MAVA). Harish has been shaping a movement that enables men in deconstructing masculinity. Organisation: Mahila Rajsatta Andolan, empowering Elected Women Representatives in Panchayat raj system.

Eminent social activist Seematai Sakhare was decorated with Mukta Sanman Jeevangaurav for her noble social workDr. Seema Sakhre has founded and presided over Stree Atyachar Virodhi Parishad (SAVP) - Forum against Atrocities on Women, Legal Literacy Movement for Women (LLM) and Vidarbha Association for Women’s Studies (Forum against Rape). Among the services she has established for the rehabilitation of women is the ‘Family Counseling Centre’ and ‘Short Stay Home’ at Nagpur.  Her work on the issues surrounding unwed mothers is of great importance.

The Award ceremony also had special performances by Gangubai Jadhav and Laxmibai Giram. The popular all women’s band Indiva also entertained the viewers. Indiva is the only DIVA band from India to perform World Folk Fusion Music. Indiva as a band performs in 8 languages
