Article marketing has undergone some significant changes in the last couple of years, with Google becoming stricter about ranking sites. Until the recent search engine updates, you had a couple of choices when it came to article marketing. Although some article marketers took the path of syndication, which meant producing high quality articles, a larger number focused more on quantity, relying on the directories to get their articles quickly ranked. What counts today, though, is quality content, as the search engines aren't as likely to rank articles that appear in directories as they used to be.

If you use article marketing or just publish on your own sites, you need to cast your marketing net as wide as possible. There are tons of places you are not aware of where your content has a realistic chance of being published. Go to Google, or Bing, and look for online magazines of all kinds - there are millions of them with some being more well-known.

Even if you have to write something new and unique, it is worth it since you will have your signature there as well. You have to forgo the immediate gains and view this just like submitting to an article directory.

Here is a very powerful method for increasing your brand, self or business using your content, and I do not think I have seen this mentioned anywhere else; not to say that has not happened. Basically, you take any possibly related niche market and start writing content for them and marketing it.

You cannot do this with a niche that is unrelated as that simply will not work out. This will work very well if you provide very good content that is useful and tie it into your niche.

Content theft is a daily problem on the internet, and something you've likely experienced before. Many unscrupulous or just ignorant marketers mine the article directories for content they can grab. Believe it or not, you can sometimes make this work in your favor. Rather than get upset when you find that someone has swiped your content, write to them and make an offer. Give them the benefit of the doubt, and maintain a cordial tone. Offer them your future articles, and an occasional unique, on a regular basis - but they must include your contact link. On the other hand, if they keep your article without a link, let them know that you have no other choice but to file a DMCA notice against them.

There's an endless amount of research you could do to help you understand article marketing more thoroughly. But simply having that knowledge is only half the battle with the other half becoming skilled at implementing it. It takes certain abilities to write quality articles that your readers will appreciate. If you want to upgrade your writing skills, you have to keep writing. So if you want to get the most out of article marketing, keep writing and submitting articles.
