Himalaya’s ‘My Baby & Me’ reaches Indore

The company held an interactive session between doctors and mothers in the city

Indore, February 28, 2013: As part of Himalaya’s efforts to deepen the engagement between consumers and the medical fraternity, the company’s Babycare division held a special session for mothers in Indore.

Talking about the initiative, Mr. Mukesh Patney, Business Head—Pharmaceutical Division, The Himalaya Drug Company said, “We have always believed that it is important for everyone to seek doctor’s advice when it comes to healthcare. Pregnant women regularly consult their doctor, but once the baby is born, mother’s health concerns often take a backseat. Through ‘My Baby & Me’, we wanted to address this issue by providing a platform for mothers to engage in discussions with doctors and other mums, which will help them to learn a little bit more about taking care of themselves and their babies.” Patney further added that is equally important for parents to consult their doctor when it comes to choosing personal care products for their babies.

During the event, thirty-five participating mothers were addressed by Dr. Kadambari Wagh, eminent gynecologist and Dr. Srikanth, M.D. (Ayurveda), The Himalaya Drug Company. Talking about postpartum health concerns, Dr. Wagh said, “The arrival of a newborn is a joyous occasion for mothers. But the experience can be marred with health complications after delivery, which includes perinatal bleeding, depression and urinary disorders. It is important for mothers to address these concerns and talk to medical professional about it.”

Dr. Srikanth highlighted the role of Ayurveda in caring for infants and mother alike. “Pregnant women feel that giving birth is the hardest, but the real test for mothers begin after that! It’s important for mothers to take really good care of themselves as they are the main caregivers for their little ones. Ayurveda, a 5,000 year old system of medicine that is relevant even today, can provide an alternative health solution for mothers and babies alike.”

He further elaborated that babies’ skin is extremely delicate and sensitive to irritants, “Ayurvedic texts have recorded the benefits of herbs such as Aloe Vera, Fenugreek and oils of Olive and Almond, which are gentle for baby’s skin. When choosing baby care products for your infant, it is important to ensure that they contain only natural ingredients.”

Himalaya’s ‘My Baby & Me’ was previously been held in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Vijayawada.
