#ethniciscool trended as traditions held their own.

First runner up, Dr. ShivangiMaletia of Haryana and 2nd runner up was SajaniPallath from Kerala

The first ever Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic concluded in style in Mumbai, as Bihu dancer MonishaDoley, from Lakhimpur, Assam, took away the coveted title. Folk dancer Dr.ShivangiMaletia and Carnatic music exponent from Kerala, SajaniPallath were the 1st and 2nd runner up respectively.

The evening was hosted by television’s darling RitwikDhanjani, who kept the audience in splits throughout. The eminent jury came from diverse walks of life. Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, celebrity blogger Miss Malini, administrator Chandra Iyengar, political and social worker Shaina NC, celebrated fashion designer ArchanaKochhar and make-up guru DorrisGodambe. KPMG was the process adviser.

The evening had ethnic written all over it; as hosts and Craftsvilla.com owners, Monica and Manoj Gupta, kept it simple and reverent. Dancer Sanam opened the evening with a modern “ganeshvandana” and singer Shaan, whose many songs have always extolled the virtues of Indian beauty, regaled the audience. Goddess Saraswati surely has a permanent seat, somewhere in Shaan’s vocal cords.

Monica Gupta, who conceptualized Craftsvilla Miss Ethic said, “We received 50000 entries from the remotest corners of the country, Sri Ganganagar, Hoshiarpur, Imphal, Hoshangabad, Faridabad, Raipur, Idukki, etc; for the Miss Ethnic Contest. We were looking for women, who have built their identity around something ethnic.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan, the face of Craftsvilla Miss Ethnic was in her element, as she swung merrily to Shaan’s songs and thanked him for singing “Saifu’s songs” on stage.

Miss IndiasParvathyOmanakuttan, ZoyaAfroz, AmrutaPatki, NoyonitaLodh, Ruhi Singh etc; walked the ramp for ArchanaKochhar’sBanjara collection, an art form from Nanded Maharashtra, which she is reviving with a modern twist. Kareena Kapoor Khan also wore a garment from the Banjara collection.

The contestants from all over the country were groomed and polished by celebrated grooming expert, DivyaBhatnagar and DorrisGodambe.
