Nana Patekar was born in 1951 in the small town of Murud-Janjira, Maharastra. After completing his education from Shri J.J Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai, Patekar started his journey in the film Industry. He acted in movies like Gaman, Mohre, Salaam Bombay, Parinda, Khamoshi, Ab Tak Chapan, Deool to name a few, where he made a mark for himself in the cinematic world. He has won many accolades including the National Film Award, Filmfare awards, etc. for his unconventional roles. Recently, Government of India awarded him Padma Shri for his contribution in Indian Cinema in the year 2013.

Despite having a huge fan following over the decades Nana Patekar leads a very simple life.
