Global watchmaking giant SEIKO to feature in Professional Twenty20 Cricket as Official Watch Partner of Kolkata Knight Riders

SEIKO and Kolkata Knight Riders officially seal a two-year partnership agreement

 

Bangalore: SEIKO, the watch making pioneer renowned the world over for its relentless dedication to perfection, has been appointed as the Official Watch Partner of Kolkata Knight Riders — the defending champions of the Indian Premier League. The official announcement was made in the presence of the entire KKR squad along with the CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders Mr. Venky Mysore and the President of SEIKO Watch India Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Susumu Kawanishi.

 

Since 1881, SEIKO has introduced many landmark innovations in precision timekeeping — starting with the production of Japan’s first wristwatch in 1913 and including the creation of the world’s first quartz watch in 1969, and very recently, the world’s first GPS solar watch in 2012. Today, having been in India for just 6 years, it is the fastest growing brand in the premium watch segment in the country.

 

As the Official Watch Partner of Kolkata Knight Riders, SEIKO will benefit from marketing and visibility rights for the next two years including SEIKO branding on player headwear and in KKR brand collaterals. SEIKO also announced that they have plans to launch an exclusive line of watches & clocks embodying KKR colors and themes.

 

The new association will add to SEIKO’s 50-year-old illustrious sports history. One that has seen SEIKO serve as the official timer to major world sporting events such as the Olympics, IAAF World Championships in Athletics and World Cup Soccer Championships, and going beyond sports timing, partner those with a shared dedication to perfection such as FC Barcelona — the world’s most successful football club, Darya Klishina — gold-medallist Russian long jumper, and now, Kolkata Knight Riders.

The evening of the announcement saw the entire KKR squad receiving SEIKO Sportura watches from Mr. Shoyama, CFO- SEIKO WATCH CORPORATION, followed by a thematic fashion show by fashion guru Prasad Bidapa that had models sporting stylish SEIKO time pieces.
