Glenmark Employees conducts Cycle Rally to spread the
‘Green Message’ among Indore Citizens on the occasion of World Environment Day

Indore, 2014: Employees of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals celebrated World Environment Day by conducting a Bicycle Rally to spread the ‘green message’ among the citizens of Indore. The aim of the rally was to encourage cycling as a means of mobility for short distances and thereby promoting conservation of natural resources.
Around 55 employees of Glenmark’s Pithampur plant took to the streets and cycled across major areas in the city like Regal Square, Balvinay Mandir, Palasia, Geeta Bhawan Square, M Y Road and Railway Station. They displayed posters with environment conservation messages, chanted ‘save-the-earth slogans’ and also interacted with the general public in a bid to raise awareness and encourage citizens to take action and help reduce the potential impacts of climate change.
“As a company Glenmark is committed to environmental conservation and undertakes various ‘green’ initiatives across all its offices and manufacturing facilities. I am therefore delighted that employees of our Pithampur plant went a step further in its environmental commitment and created awareness among the general public through this Bicycle Rally”; said Jalaj Sharma, Director and President Operations, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. “To cover short distance it is indeed better to use a bicycle because it saves fuel, does not cause any pollution and also keeps one healthy” he added.
World Environment Day ('WED') is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet Earth. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The theme for WED 2014 is ‘Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level`, which emphasizes positive action for the environment in the light of global warming and climatic change.
