GIA (Gemological Institute of America), a nonprofit institute considered the world leader in gem and jewellery education, is conducting a practical five-day programme on diamonds right here in Pune starting August 11, 2014. GIA student,Jesal Sagar of Sagar Jewellers in Pune says, “GIA’s training has added a lot of value to my business, to me and to my entire staff. We are now able to communicate with our customers better on technical aspects related to diamonds and other gemstones. The customers too seem happier and more satisfied. We have transformed our approach from ‘selling’ to ‘being a guide to our customers’. This has definitely reflected positively on the business and increased the word of mouth publicity for my store”.
Students in GIA’s Diamond Grading Lab Class work with real diamonds and professional Gemmological tools to uncover the fascinating world inside these gems. The class teaches both technical and practical ways to observe and evaluate diamond quality, and the basics of the famous 4Cs (colour, cut, clarity and carat weight), an evaluation system created by GIA. Students also learn how the 4Cs can affect value and about the ways in which diamond treatments can affect the appearance of a stone.
Taught by experienced and qualified GIA instructors, the course is ideal for hobbyists, jewellery enthusiasts, connoisseurs, students and working professionals interested in diamonds. The programme starts August 11,2014 in Pune.
