According to the Census report (latest 2011), approximately 70% of the Indian population resides in the rural India. It is also estimated that almost half the population of Maharashtra constitutes its villages. However, very little is focused on their daily lives, problems, needs and activities.  Watch the realities of the rural Maharashtra in Gavakadachya Batmya every Monday to Friday at 8.30 am and 6 pm, exclusively on IBN-Lokmat.

Over the years, people have migrated from villages to cities in search for a better future, a better living. However, very little is actually known about those who plan to stay on in the villages and struggle with their daily needs and routine. Farmer suicides are not new to Maharashtra, and so isn’t illiteracy, lack of job opportunities and basic living facilities. A meager 3 meals a day is a cause of struggle. The climate’s atrocities are a cause of concern. In the past, the government has planned several programs to relieve the people of their everyday worries. But how far have they succeeded is the question, answer to which lies within these villages. Medical facilities, sanitation methods , availability of portable water, agricultural woes and means of income are perhaps the prime cause of concern that people residing in villages deal with every single day.

Yet, they get up every morning, ready to face their lives with a smile. Their problems are often talked about, not acted upon. Catch their lives the way it really is and come face to face with the everyday events in the lives of villagers of Maharashtra.
