Publisher of the multi award-winning fotoboek software, Pixum recently announced the 2010 Summer Zoom photography competition. It is the fourth and latest contest in Pixum's long list of European photo competitions.

Summer Zoom 2010 is open to residents of ten countries across Europe. These are Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and the UK. Participants can send in their favourite holiday pictures, whether of spectacular scenic beauty or even something funny.

The top three prizes being awarded include a waterproof Pentax digital camera and 333 free prints for the first place, while the second and third places split another 333 photo prints between them. In addition, all participants will be awarded 25 free photo prints just for entering the contest.

The Summer Zoom contest is part of Pixum's campaign to increase user awareness about the company's online photo hosting service and its fotoboek software. Called “Easybook,” the software is one of the best free photo editing programs available today. The numerous awards that the software has won over the past few years are testament to this fact.

Pixum allows users to create free web albums of their pictures, providing up to 1GB of free storage. Users also get access to a wide range of printing and editing services. Although many other companies offer similar services, expert reviewers have raved about the excellence and simplicity of Pixum's foto album service.

The company's service is rapidly gaining in popularity with over 2 million customers across Europe. Netherlands is one of the latest countries where Pixum has forayed into. It is best known there for its “foto's afdrukken” services, which is Dutch for “photo printing”.

In addition, the company offers an array of other products such as personally customizable calendars, mugs and apparel. Despite competition from rivals, the company's CEO, Daniel Attallah, is upbeat about Pixum's prospects. “Presently, our fotoboek services are offered in eight languages. We're looking forward to serving more and more people, better and better.”

The fotoservice company is owned and operated by the German based Diginet GmbH & Co. Launched in 2000; it has since expanded rapidly and is offering services in as many as 30 countries across Europe.

Pixum is a winner of the “Fast Fifty” award, an award jointly issued by Deloitte Technology, Capital magazine, and the German stock market authority. This was in recognition of Pixum being one of the 50 fastest growing companies in Germany.

Presently, the company is offering 25 free prints to new users who sign up for an account. Registering for an account is absolutely free, and each account provides the user up to 1GB of free storage for photos. Other free services include photo sharing with friends or family, as well as creating slide shows and web albums.

Interested users can sign up for a free account online, at Pixum's website. The EasyBook software program is also available for free download. The program is compatible with Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems.
