Star Plus extends prime time by bringing in a new show at the 6:30 PM slot

Ek Ghar Banaunga challenges accepted social norms — Why can’t a son-in-law be a son to his wife’s family?

Premieres on 29th April, every Monday to Friday at 6.30 pm

16th April, 2013: Prime time on Star Plus will now start even earlier, with the launch of Ek Ghar Banaunga, a show based in U.P., which will air at 6:30 pm every Monday to Friday. Buoyed by the strong performance of its fiction shows across the week, STAR Plus is introducing original content on the 6.30 PM slot with a show that breaks stereotypes with a new perspective on the relationship between a son in law and his wife’s family.

The show stars Ishita Dutta and Rahul Sharma - two fresh faces in the TV fraternity who will play the roles of Poonam and Akash. Although an unusual match, Akash & Poonam share an interesting chemistry. Akash is an irreverent small-town boy from Sitapur, U.P. who single-handedly runs his family business. Akash’s general demeanour and inability to speak English is in stark contrast to the college-going, intelligent student Poonam.

Through their journey as individuals first and then as a married couple, EkGharBanaunga questions the way life functions after the daughter is married off. It raises questions such as — what happens to a girl’s parents after she is married, especially if she has no brother? Does being a daughter imply that you abandon your parents after you are married? The Indian marriage institution demands that a daughter-in-law become the daughter of the house and take care of her husband’s parents like her own. But does the son-in-law ever truly become a son to his wife’s family? These are the questions that trouble Poonam, as she prepares for her wedding celebrations. Will she find the answers to these questions in Akash?

Tune in to the premiere episode of Ek Ghar Banaunga on Monday, 29th April at 6.30 pm. Only on STAR Plus.(Produced by Rakesh Paswan’s Village Boy Productions).
