First movie to be released on Dish TV, Asia’s Largest DTH Operator

Movie is available to 14 million Dish TV subscribers, across the countryin Hindi, Tamil & Telugu

for the first time in the history of Indian Cinema is premiering a big banner movie one day before its premiere in theatres and this revolutionary concept is being kicked off with the premiere of none other than Padmashri Kamal Haasan’s “Vishwaroop/ Vishwaroopam”.

Dish TV will showcase this movie one day before its theatrical release, on the 10th of January, 2013, thus setting a benchmark for the industry. The movie is set to hit theatres on 11th Jan’13.

Commenting on the initiative,Mr. Salil Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, Dish TVsaid “It is an idea whose time has come; we are glad that the movie fraternity is looking at this technology as a new revenue stream. As a pioneer in the DTH space, this is yet another first to Dish TV’s credit.”

This Indian Spy Thriller which is being Written, Directed and Co-produced by Mr. Kamal Haasan is priced at Rs. 1000 for the Tamil version, if the subscriber books the order till 5th Jan’13, post which the subscribers would need to pay Rs. 1200 for their order, for a single show. The Hindi and Telugu versions of the movie are priced at Rs. 500. Tamil and Telugu versions are called Vishwaroopam and Hindi version of the same is named Vishwaroop.
