Troy, Michigan, November 14, 2011 -- The William Malcolm Man Of Style And Substance Scholarship Committee is proud to announce that Detroit area McDonald‘s restaurant owners are supporting the 2011 William Malcolm Man Of Style And Substance Scholarship Contest mentorship program and contest selection Gala on November 18th. Whether it‘s supporting a local sports league, helping talented young athletes, or taking steps to support youngsters seeking to enrich their lives through education McDonald‘s will continue to ensuring it is a part of.

Supporting the 2011 William Malcolm Man Of Style And Substance Scholarship is one example of the many ways in which the Detroit area McDonald‘s restaurant owners give back to the Michigan community. Recently,the owner operators awarded a group of 16 accomplished students involved in their churches and communities $1,000 scholarships. Sixteen Detroit area churches each named a member of its congregation as a recipient of the McDonald‘s Faith-Based College Scholarship Program, which supports exceptional students who are committed to their faith and demonstrate a history of community involvement. In total, the program awarded $16,000 to students from across southeast Michigan.

The goals of the annual William Malcolm Man Of Style And Substance Scholarship Contest is to highlight and encourage young men from Michigan (High School Seniors) to pursue excellence through educational endeavors, chivalry towards woman and expose them to volunteerism and community service work. Additional goals of the mentorship based contest are to nurture a greater since of responsibility towards their families and develop a deeper spiritual relationship.

Through participation in the scholarship competition the young men will realize the importance of seeking direction, guidance and mentoring from successful men. So that they can, when ready take what they have learned and become a mentor themselves. The young men will be willing to learn that successful men are defined by how they honor their responsibilities, respect women, care for their families and contribute to the communities in which they live.

On November 18th 2011 twenty-three (23) high school senior young men that were selected out of over 130 entrants to participate in the annual scholarship contest will compete in a live oratorical contest inside of the Banquet Facility at Michigan First Credit Union; to be selected as the winner of the 2011 William Malcolm Man Of Style And Substance High School Scholarship Contest.
