You cannot really add sugar free maple syrup in your coffee or in your tea, so you should try to find a different natural sweetener for such cases. Nevertheless, you can easily use maple syrup instead of sugar in baking. If you want to add syrup in your cookies, you should use a quantity smaller with one quarter than the quantity of sugar you normally use. However, you should not expect the end product to be as sweet as it would have been if you used sugar. But, in most cases, that is the good part: cookies are often too sweet; and if you try to add less sugar, they are a little tasteless. Maple syrup is the solution for such cases.
The most famous dessert for which you can use sugar free maple syrup is the classic American pancake. If you didn’t already know, for pancakes you will need about two hundred grams of white flour, two or three eggs, a glass of milk, some butter and a teaspoon of baking powder. Some people also add a little bit of sugar in the mixture, but it is not necessary since pancakes are usually served with a sweet topping. But you could add a mouthful of a natural sweetener in the composition if you want. Unfortunately, you cannot use maple syrup instead of sugar if you want to whip the glair until the composition does not fall from the bowl when you turn it upside down. Anyway, since you use baking powder, it is not absolutely necessary to whip the yolks and the glair separately. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients until you have a homogenous composition, use a ladle to drip it in the pan and fry the pancakes, then drip pure maple syrup over them.
But you don’t have to use sugar free maple syrup only in your desserts. There are various breakfast or even dinner recipes that are cooked this natural sweetener. The fennel and maple sausage is a delicious dish which requires less than half an hour of your time. You need a pork sausage, a couple of tablespoons of pare maple syrup, one teaspoon of fennel seeds, some black and red pepper, salt and oil for cooking. The recipe is very simple: you combine the sausage with all the other ingredients, including the syrup (but without the oil, of course), in a bowl and mix them until you have a homogeneous composition. Then, you use the mixture to make two medium-sized patties. Afterwards, you fry the two patties in a pan for about three or four minutes on each of their sides and then you continue to fry them, adding oil, until you consider they are well cooked. All you have to do, then, is enjoy this delicious meal.
