Mahan Coal organizes Free Health Camp at Ameliya village
More than 250 villagers treated and given free medicines
Singrauli, July 29: 60 - year-old (Ram TaukalViswakarma), who had been suffering from prolonged illness and weakness, finally got relief after he was diagnosed and given free medicines by doctors. Mahan Coal Ltd organized the health camp for the villagers of Ameliya village in Singrauli district on July 26, 2014.

Similarly, (Mukesh) a 12-year old boy who was suffering from stomach pain also received free treatment at this camp. “My son was not keeping well from last couple of weeks. When I came to know Mahan Coal Ltd. was organizing a free camp, I decided to take him along. I am grateful to the doctors and people who organized this camp for treating my son so well”, said his father, Kesli Yadav.

These were some of the happy voices that echoed during the day when Mahan Coal Ltd organized a daylong free medical camp for the people of Ameliya village as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. More than 250 villagers from Ameliya were treated for various ailments like fever, cough, stomach pain, renal disorders and eye check-up. 60 women and 70 children were administered vaccines and two patients with serious ailments were referred to the district hospital, Waidhan, Singrauli with support from the company.

Prominent medical practitioners like Dr. Ramesh Ratnakar and Dr. Dharmendra Krishnan, with their team helped the poor villagers with free medical check up and medicines. The doctors also spread awareness to control malaria in the village especially during the rainy season. Also, free eye check-up, consultation for cataract, medicine and spectacles were provided to needy patients at the health camp.

Mr. Ramakant Tiwari, CEO, Mahan Coal Ltd said, “ We are happy to organize this health camp to provide better healthcare in the villages as part of our corporate social responsibility. With the health camp we wanted to make people aware for prevention of malaria in the village. We have been working in collaboration with the district health department to serve the people of the near-by villages. Post attending the health camps being organized by us since the past one year, villagers realized the benefits and made the second health camp a success with their huge participation.”

It is good to see a corporate house fulfilling its social promise and taking genuine initiatives to come closer to the villagers by organizing such free medical camps.”
