Raipur, September 02, 2014: The 10th edition of Minerals, Metals, Metallurgy & Materials International Exhibition and Conference (MMMM 2014), one of the largest in this part of the world shall be inaugurated by Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of Mines, Steel, Labour & Employment at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on September 04, 2014. Mr. CS Verma, Chairman, Steel Authority of India shall be its patron-in-chief.

According to Mr. KL Mehrotra, Vice Chairman, The Indian Institute of Metals (Delhi Chapter),the joint organizers of MMMM 2014, “Chhattisgarh is rich in natural resources and has a flourishing mining industry. Every year we have had tremendous participation from the state in terms of business visitors. They are keen to know about the latest international technologies, machinery equipment etc., that they can possibly acquire and put to use for their mining business in the state. In fact, this year we are expecting a record attendance of business owners and professionals from mining hubs in Chhattisgarh.”

MMMM Expo is supported and co-sponsored by Ministry of Steel; Ministry of Mines; Ministry of Earth Sciences; Ministry of External Affairs; Ministry of Commerce & Industry; Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.

National Steel Policy 2005 envisaged apolicy framework to enable the Indian steel industry cross the 100 million tonnes mark by 2019-20 and 23% share of exports in total production. However the performance of the industry in the recent past suggests that this target shall get surpassed. This positive development necessitated formulation of National Steel Policy 2012 which envisaged crude steel capacity of 300 million tonnes by 2025-26. As per industry estimates, one million tonne crude steel capacity addition requires investment of Rs 4,000 crore. Therefore, for adding 200 million tonne capacity by 2025-26, the steel industry would require investment of over Rs 800,000 crore.

Keeping the business potential in consideration, The Indian Institute of Metals in association with ITE Group PLC, one of the world’s leading organizers of international trade exhibitions and conferences, is organizing a four-day MMMM 2014 from September 04 — 07, 2014. “It will be an effective business platform for moving towards the ambitious target. It will feature dedicated country pavilions from China, European Countries and Russia and is expected to draw over 300 exhibitors; 700 delegates; and 15,000 trade visitors from 35 countries,” Mr. Mehrotra added.
