Casa Xelaju, a full-service Spanish language immersion school dedicated to providing educators, teachers, administrators, and principals with the firsthand cultural experience and Spanish language learning environment they need to fully understand the heritage and Latin American roots of the subject they teach,  announced this week their official summer 2017 Quetzaltenango, Guatemala trip dates for those interested.

Originating from a passion for providing a different kind of language and cultural immersion, Casa Xelaju techniques speed up the language acquisition and retention in all faculty and staff on the comprehensive trip. The school's teachers regularly participate in workshops and staff development to remain current with new language acquistion techniques.

“There’s no way to fully learn a language without living it,” said  Julio E. Batres, Founder and Owner of Casa Xelaju. “Everyone agrees — it’s impossible to be fluent without knowing the history, heritage, idioms, and culture surrounding a specific language. That’s where Casa Xelaju comes into play. We want everyone to know the importance and root foundations that support the Latin American Spanish tradition.”

The Quetzaltenango immersion trip is a 3-week Guatemalan adventure designed to give attendees the ability to better communicate with Latino students and their families. The 3-week program focuses not only on Spanish learning, but also on creating a better cultural understanding of Latino students and their families living in the United States. Additionally, educators will learn popular expressions used by their students and families, as well as have the opportunity to visit schools in rural and urban settings.

The two travel trips planned for this summer are June 25 to July 9, and July 9 to July 30, 2017. Casa Xelaju U. S. office is based out of Minneapolis, MN and will host informational meetings with details laid out regarding to the two trips. Teachers who partake in the trips can obtain 125 CEUS to renew their teacher’s license of 16 undergraduate college credits for aspiring teachers and interested students.

“This is a full-experience, immersive trip unlike any other available for educators,” said  Julio E. Batres. “We are aware educators and students are under constant stress and requirements, which is why an immersion trip can accelerate the effective learning process tenfold. Visiting a foreign country is an eye-opening experience for any traveler, and doing it from a localized, family-centered approach will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

The trips include one-one-on instruction in Guatemala, homestay immersion and experiences, volcano climbing, and various nature excursions for experiencing the raw beauty of the Guatemalan landscape.

Casa Xelaju is open every day of the week, and is currently taking applications for their two upcoming summer trips.
