01 January, 2014: British residents who have booked holidays in Sicily villas will, from March 2014, have one more flight on offer to take them to their holiday destination.

Starting on March 30th, this service, which will depart three times a week from London Luton and touch down at Catania, will be operated by a leading low-cost airline company as part of their summer 2014 line-up. In keeping with the company’s modus operandi, seats for this route will be available at relatively affordable prices, with a one-way flight starting at approximately £40 per person.

The decision to add this particular destination to the airline’s itinerary came after officials from the operator noticed the high volumes of British tourists taking holidays in Sicily villas every year. A source close to the administration team of the airline stated that the thought process behind this additional route hinged on the opportunity to offer these tourists an easy and affordable way to get to Italy’s largest island at any time of the year.

With the opening of this air route between Catania and London Luton, the airline in question will have increased its portfolio of destinations to exactly forty cities worldwide. This new route also marks the company’s fifth venture into Italy, with the airline already offering flights to Milan, Olbia, Pisa and Venice in their portfolio of destinations.

Flights to Catania from London Luton with this airline company will be departing every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday throughout the year. The low-cost operator has already made a total of one million seats available for summer 2014, across several destinations in their network, and demand is expected to be high following trends observed in recent years for the same company.

Catania is the sixth busiest airport in Italy, coming in behind only Fiumicino, Malpensa, Linate, Bergamo and Venice Airport in terms of yearly passenger traffic. The airport sees approximately 6.2 million passengers through its gates every year, and a large percentage of these are tourists heading for their Sicily villas during the spring and summer months.
