(Free Press Release) Brightergy, based in the Kansas City and St. Louis areas, recently completed one of the most important solar and wind energy projects in the Midwest in 2010.
Their involvement in Project Living Proof is a recent example of their efforts to install solar panels on Kansas City area homes. Project Living Proof is a century old home in Kansas City‘s urban core converted to a state-of-the-art sustainable living demonstration home. There will be workshops, tours, and information on how to make existing homes efficient, renewable, and sustainable. It will be an example of solar power in Kansas City, as well as have an electric vehicle charging station, a geothermal heat pump, smart appliances, and raised beds in the front yard for growing their food. Everything will be used to show people how to make their own homes more sustainable.
Last year Brightergy, operating as The Energy Savings Store, installed solar panels in St. Louis at the demonstration garden area of the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The garden is meant to demonstrate to visitors how to grow food and other plants in their homes in the region. Another example of solar energy in St. Louis that Brightergy, operating as The Energy Savings Store, installed is the Lambert International Airport. Solar panels as well as a small wind turbine (windmill) were installed to create improved functionality at a security gate. Another installation of solar power in St. Louis is at the first certified LEED Platinum building, the William A. Kerr Foundation building.
The largest private solar panel installation to date in the Kansas City, Missouri area was completed by Brightergy, operating as The Energy Savings Store, in July, 2010. Posty Cards, a family owned maker of corporate greeting cards, chose them to install their solar panels.
Posty Cards took advantage of Kansas City Power & Light‘s solar rebate program which offset  the  total cost of the project by nearly 25%!  Additionally, Posty Cards received a federal grant of 30%. Accelerated depreciation made the investment even more attractive financially. Posty Cards now offers the most sustainably produced products in their industry.
Brightergy Store installed a solar awning on the back of their showroom in Lenexa, Kansas, to supplement their energy consumption. Seeing the panels is always part of any tour that comes through the facility. The power that‘s generated is used for the computers, lights, and other general energy use.
