SAN RAMON, Calif. — March 21, 2013 — Avatier Corporation announced today that it has filed for a patent on new technology, INStore Intelligence, that could revolutionize the way online stores are managed, while assisting consumers with better information to make informed purchases. The store intelligence technology can be applied to both consumer retail sites and enterprise application stores.

The new analytical technology provides consumers insights that will allow them to move beyond today’s subjective means of judging suitability — primarily numbered rankings based on customer comments — by providing shoppers with an insight into an item’s popularity based on hard numbers around an item’s history in purchases, returns, shelf life and any other metrics retailers choose in customizing their solution. Information such as in-store metrics is revealed, within the context of the shopping experience, by clicking on the item to reveal historic information.

“There hasn’t been a significant addition to the tools consumers or merchants have been given for online shopping or Web store management for some time,” commented Nelson Cicchitto, chairman and CEO of Avatier, a global IT solutions provider. “Based on the feedback we have had to date, this could be the next big addition.”

The store intelligence technology will also help store managers with inventory control and promotion by providing in-store metrics on items based off of historical and current data. With a click of a mouse the manager can obtain the same data and apply it to insights about store items. A quick analysis of all items in the store, based on predetermined thresholds, is achieved through a color-coded visual representation of status, from outstanding (green), to need for investigation (red) based on risk. Those products with outstanding scores can also be considered for in- and off-site promotion as well as increased inventory.

“We initially developed this technology for use inside enterprise IT departments that were providing access to apps and hardware through online stores like the one we pioneered five years ago,” commented Nelson Cicchitto, chairman and CEO of Avatier. “It will certainly make a substantial impact on corporate enterprise IT departments, but it is obvious once you experience the intelligence it adds around both shopping and inventory that it will have much more impact throughout the e-commerce industry.”
