College debt is negatively impacting the graduate’s life, their parent’s retirement and sustained economic improvement.

Gene W. Kelly, author of “The College Myth”, claims that for many graduates the promise of a college education providing a good paying job is a no longer viable.  He states that college debt is negatively impacting the graduate’s life, their parent’s retirement and the overall economic recovery.  College graduates, stuck in low-paying jobs, with large college debt payments and high debt-to-income ratios, are:

* delaying getting married and starting a family for financial reasons
* not buying a first house, purchasing furnishings or hiring contractors for repairs
* unable to get credit cards or buy a new car, and
* their parents are helping out with loan payments and decreasing own their retirement spending

This is a definitely a drag on the economy.  However, at the same, time over 350,000 good paying trade jobs are going unfilled due to lack of qualified skilled candidates. Gene argues that for many they students should not go to college but should choose becoming a trained trade’s worker, which will help jump start getting the US economy back on track.

We Need More Young Entrepreneurs
Gene contends that the college education system as we know it is broken.  The ROI just isn’t there anymore for a college education, with decreasing employment opportunities and greater competition for knowledge workers.  Gene wants to change that dynamic so more individuals are gainfully employed in highly-skilled trade businesses that the country really needs to jump start the economy.

Gene is a very successful businessman who aims to train thousands of young entrepreneurs in an accelerated learning format so they can earn as much or more money than with a college education, while not carrying a mountain of debt and long-term underemployment.  Gene knows what jobs of the 21st century will be vital to the economy and where the next generation of millionaires is coming from: the skilled trades.  Yes, we’re going back to the future.

Gene has an innovative plan to retool our economy by empowering an entire new generation of talented entrepreneurs to invest in obtaining multiple specialized trade skills through accelerated learning courses taught through modern training methods. He contends that instead of investing $50,000-$150,000 in a four-year college education that an individual spend the next four years working full-time instead.  Even an entry level plumber or carpenter is earning $40,000 after only months of highly specialized training.  And plumbers and carpenters can’t be outsourced overseas.  A free e-book of The College Myth is available at the website:  www.thecollegemyth.com.
