Orlando, FL – February 26, 2015 – Most arthritis patients are using either drugs, natural supplements, or a combination of both to manage their joint pain. However, numerous health experts are now suggesting that adding certain food items to their regular diets could also significantly help many individuals achieve overall improvement in their condition.

Arthritis experts are specifically recommending three anti-inflammatory foods for patients. While there are other suggested ways to improve one’s diet, such as limiting intake of processed foods, sugar and saturated fat, these three arthritis-friendly foods are believed to have anti-inflammatory properties that could help reduce pain.

The first recommended item, sardines, are thought to have high levels of anti-inflammatory benefits due to the omega-3 fatty acids they contain. According to some experts, arthritis patients should consume this food particularly if suffering from severe pain and inflammation.

“There are many ways to prepare sardines,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan. “One example is to use a food processor to mix sardines with shallots, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, mustard, salt and lemon juice. You can then use the mixture as a spread for crackers.”

Arthritis experts also suggest that sufferers consume Matcha, a powdered form of green tea leaves that is believed to reduce inflammation. Matcha contains antioxidants that may have the potential to significantly slow down cartilage breakdown. Some researchers claim this anti-inflammatory item is more advantageous because it contains higher concentrations of polyphenols, an antioxidant found in steeped green tea.

Scientific studies also revealed that broccoli contains a compound known as sulforaphane that could help block the enzymes that are associated with joint destruction. The compound is also believed to be effective in inhibiting inflammation.

According to the research conducted by the Boston University School of Medicine and funded by the Arthritis Foundation, broccoli can be very helpful among osteoarthritis patients. The study found that individuals who had adequate levels of vitamin K exhibited fewer signs of osteoarthritis. Vitamin K is commonly found in green leafy vegetables, including broccoli.

Experts agree that arthritis sufferers need to have a diet that is rich in anti-inflammatory foods. Many patients who are following an inflammation-fighting diet claim they have experienced improvements in their pain levels. In addition to eating healthy foods, sufferers also often take curcumin supplements. Curcumin is an active ingredient of turmeric that is believed to have high levels of anti-inflammatory properties (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI/).
